Why Blog?

Blogging isn't for everyone, but everyone can do it. Blogging is a way to release tension, tell life stories, tell made up stories, share ideas, help others, the options are endless. The reason I blog is to vent, release stress, and hopefully to help at least one person out there with something. It's not perfect, but I feel at peace when I write, and I don't write to impress anyone.

Sometimes starting off is hard or finding a theme or path to take, but just writing whatever is on your mind is the best way to start. I try and think about something that's been on my mind for a while/a few days. I write whatever comes to mind on that topic, and then when I'm finished I let it be for a little while. I go back to it in a few hours or a day or two, and then re-read it and change or edit things. Most times I end up just starting fresh, because I didn't say what I was wanting to or if I went a completely different direction. No one is perfect when they first start, you have to work at it and be diligent. It also will take a long time to gain views, shares, and newsletter subscriptions on your blog. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Even if you're wanting to write to blow off steam or vent can be hard. The best thing to do is find what puts your mind at ease; for me it's listening to music and sitting in a nice/calm environment, and the words coming flowing to me. Also, if you're wanting to turn blogging into a job, sharing them on your platforms can be a good and bad idea. If you're like me, not having many people actually reading your posts can be daunting. It will get in your head and mess with it. Allowing your friends to know about it and support you. Checking out other blogs that are doing well, taking notes on theirs, and also watching tutorials about building your blog would be beneficial to you as well.

Blogging can also lead into other areas, like business paying for ads, mentions, sending products for review/mentions. Just because someone starts a blog off with testimonials and inspiration, doesn't mean they cannot turn it into a beauty, lifestyle, clothing, etc., blog. The point is they started as something. Start off small and build from there. Target smaller companies for recognition, reach out to business to review their products. Mention them in posts and tag them. Creating good content that is relevant is key, but not necessarily pertinent in the beginning.

Some key take aways to remember:

1. The first draft is not the final draft
2. Don't place pressure on it
3. Create content that is relevant
4. Growing your blog will take time (longer than you think)
5. Once established, find a direction to take it
6. Don't forget to have fun
7. Everyone starts off at the same place
8. You do not need to be perfect at writing to be good
9. Don't focus on the amount of views or shares at the beginning
10. Don't be afraid to take risks
